The Day the Clown Cried Jerry Lewis 1972

Image
In 1972 Jerry Lewis starred in, directed and co-screenwrote a film about a clown in WWII leading children to the gas chamber. Obviously not his typical fare. Lewis himself decided not to release it. Very few people have seen the final product. Harry Shearer of "The Simpsons" and This Is Spinal Tap is one of the few and interviews with him talking about it can be found online. If it had been released in 1972 I don't think audiences would have been prepared for it, just two years after his zany WWII romp Which Way to the Front .  King of Comedy  showed that Lewis could do drama. I think if the movie had been released it could have slowly found its audience and people could see Lewis as more than just  The Nutty Professor .

Blue Oyster Cult Imaginos 1988

I'm posting this early because I will be away camping on Saturday, which is appropriate because this came about because of a comment made coming back from camping one time. As we headed back from a trip I saw a street named Bouchard. I asked my friend "Wasn't that the name of the brothers in Blue Oyster Cult?" He proceeded to tell me how one of the brothers had an idea for a concept album having to do John Dee, an occultist in the court of Elizabeth, and a mystical black mirror. Well, I was intrigued and when I got back to my room I fell down the rabbit hole that is the story of Imaginos on the internet. I found the original demos by Albert Bouchard were readily available on the web and I ordered the CD that Blue Oyster Cult put out after Albert was no longer in the band. Co-incidentally Albert had recently released his own version of the album, which I also got. The version I put together is if B.O.C. continued with Albert Bouchard to make the ultimate version. It

Scorcher VI 2008

One of the fun parts of the movie Tropic Thunder  was the fake trailers for characters in the movie. Ben Stiller played Tugg Speedman, a popular action star and Scorcher VI was the latest of his blockbusters This is my interpretation of what the DVD cover would be. https://youtu.be/04B4mi1QfEM

KISS Hot in the Shade 1989

Peter was the first to leave the group and The Monkees had to find a way to carry on....Sorry, wrong quartet. Even though Kiss has had a lot of members, some whom have been in the band longer than Peter Criss and Ace Frehley, there is something about having the original four together that excites the Kiss Army.  These songs are picked from the Kiss album Hot in the Shade and Ace Frehley's Trouble Walkin' which had Peter Criss on backing vocasl. Both albums had the song "Hide Your Heart", co-written by Paul Stanley. From Trouble Walkin' I chose the titular song, "Back to School" and Ace's version of "Hide Your Heart" for some extra Peter and Ace. The remaining songs I split between Gene and Paul. It seems like the competition between them would ensure of that. Critics have said that at 15 songs Hot in the Shade is a bit bloated. For this version I pared it down to the standard 10 songs total.
