Pop Culture from an Alternate Dimension

       I've posted what 1930s and a 1940s movie bill would look like in a theatre from an alternate Earth so for Halloween season I present a spooky sci-fi presentations for the 1950s. I start with a trailer for Destination Mars! ,  directed by Robert Lowry, who also made the spoof serial Monarch of the Moon . Sand Pirates of the Sahara  was seen in the 2001 Jim Carrey movie The Majestic . The main double bill would be The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra and Alien Trespass . YouTube has the complete movie of Alien Trespass  but only the trailer for TLSoC , however it is worth seeking out (as well as Destination Mars! ) for those who enjoy pastiches of cheesy B-movies.       Before January was through, I wanted to add one more pairing of the World's Finest. Sadly, we could have never had a meeting of the television versions. George Reeves played the title character in The Adventures of Superman from 1952 to 1958. Adam West was Batman on the television series from 1966 to 1968. As fun as it would have to see these two paragons of virtue join each other, Reeves died seven years before the West series started.       Apparently, I'm not the only person to think about this. Look at Alex Ross' interpretation of the meeting.   

       Singin' in the Rain  is a classic musical released in1952. It is a comedy dealing with a studio in the 1920s trying to adapt to making sound pictures. While making The Dueling Cavalier  they realize they need to change in a musical, so it becomes The Dancing Cavalier . When I was designing this "what if" DVD cover I was thinking about when I would look through the old Blackhawk Films catalogs. They specialized in great forgotten movies, especially silent films. I thought they should be the ones release this "lost" classic.
