other versions of KISS 1978
I was far from the first person to think of making a Kiss album from the group's solo albums. After my blog was done, I decided to check out other people's ideas. I looked at Uncle Dan's website: What If - Misc: KISS - Radioactive - 1978 , Michael Brandvold's YouTube channel 3 Sides of the Coin where he discussed it with Tommy Sommers: Ep. 87 What If... KISS Recorded a KISS Album in 1978 Using the Solo Albums as Demos (youtube.com) , Kiss Army Things' video where brothers Jeb and Xander talk about it and a recent video by Louis Borselio which was his "what if" variation KISS - Up From The Ashes. The 1978 Album KISS Never Made. A WHAT IF FANTASY ALBUM (youtube.com) .
It was interesting to hear each person's idea of how they would do a 1978 album. Of the seven of us, the only song we all agreed on was "Radioactive" to be on our albums, 6 out of 7 of us used "Rip It Out" and "Tonight You Belong to Me" and 5 out of 7 chose "It's Alright". Even the idea of how many songs should be on it was different for each person. Uncle Dan, Louis Borelio and I wanted ten songs for the album, the brothers from Kiss Army Things went with eleven songs each and at 3 Sides of the Coin, Michael decided on nine songs while Tommy gave it the double album treatment with twenty songs.
It surprised me how varied the different versions were. So, mine was not the definitive version by any means, just one of many possibilities in the speculative world of "what if".
